Chairman & Managing Director

Dr K G Alexander is the Chairman & Managing Director of Baby Memorial Hospital, Calicut and also a practicing physician. Dr Alexander is totally committed to care and is incessantly striving hard to achieve his vision of Affordable, Accessible and Quality Healthcare to all. He is a doctor with a dream and vision to make quality healthcare affordable and accessible to all.

Baby Memorial Hospital is dedicated in the memory of late K C Varghese, affectionately called ‘Baby’, father of Dr K G Alexander.

He is also the Chairman, Baby Memorial Charitable Trust, Ex­Board Member, Malabar Chamber of Commerce, Ex­Member, Board of Studies, School of Management Studies, NIT Calicut, Life member of academic bodies like API, RSSDI. CSI, Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine, IMA etc, Fellow of International Medical Sciences Academy.

He is always involved in numerous social and philanthropic activities and was awarded the best tax payer title “Sanman” by the Income Tax department, in the year 1997–98.

Dr. K.G Alexander was recently honored under the Healthcare Personality of the Year category and awarded the prestigious 6th MT (Megate Today) India Healthcare Award 2016.

A graduate of Mar Thoma College, Thiruvalla, he completed his MBBS from S.K Medical College, Muzaffarpur in Bihar University in 1980 and MD from J.J.M Medical College, Davangere in 1985.

Mrs. Anitha Alexander

Executive Director

Wife of the founder, Mrs Anitha Alexander has been actively participating in hospital management from the inception of BMH. Three decades of experience in hospital administration helped her greatly in developing a sound knowledge of the healthcare ecosystem and patient care. Her efforts have been central to the values of BMH culture. She has been pivotal in directing the operations of BMH and commissioning of projects.

She has a Master’s Degree in Hospital Administration from University of Kerala.

Mrs. Gracy Mathai

Chief Executive Officer

A veteran in hospital administration with more than 40 years of experience, after her Graduation in Nursing and Post Graduate Diploma in Hospital Administration from Tata Institute of Social Science, Mumbai and Masters in Human Resource Development Management from Mumbai University.

She worked as the Nursing Director in Mumbai and MIMS Calicut, GM Administration & HR at MIMS Calicut, Chief Operating Officer at MIMS Kottakal for 2 years and Chief Quality Consultant at Aster DM Healthcare for 4 years.

Dr. Vineeth Abraham

Director and Chief of Strategy & Planning

Dr. Vineeth Abraham, Director and a Cardiothoracic Surgeon, plays a key role in strategizing and developing the services of the hospital. His experience and medical training has helped him take strategic decisions by leveraging technology and connecting with young generation care providers. Dr. Vineeth plays a vital role in shaping the international desk to promote medical tourism, especially from Middle East.

Through thought leadership, strategic planning and initiatives, he plans to take BMH to the next level, as a reliable healthcare partner that people trust. Dr. Vineeth has a passion to help the people in the community through public awareness programs, medical camps and training camps. He is also passionate about developing the “Heart Team“ concept of treatment and care of patients with Cardiovascular
diseases.

He is trained in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the prestigious Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences & Research, Bangalore , a high volume Apex Centre for Cardiovascular Diseases under the Govt. Of Karnataka. He completed his MBBS from Medical College Trivandrum and MS(General Surgery) from J.J.M. Medical College, Davangere, Karnataka.

Dr. Anju Miriam Alex

Director

Through the entrepreneurial acumen and the medical knowledge which she has acquired through her MBBS and M.D, she has been successful in all her efforts to grow the hospital as a top­rated health care centre. Being the Director and Consulting Physician for Baby Memorial Hospital, she aims for a system that is process driven and immaculate, which follows strict protocol and rules.

The tradition of “committed to care” continues from the time the hospital started 30 years ago, thanks to the meticulous system initiated by her father Dr. Alexander.

Her training and knowledge in the field of general medicine has enabled her to relate to doctors and paramedics working in the hospital. Before taking on the reins of administration at Baby Memorial Hospital, Dr Anju had extended her services at the Apollo Hospital, Bangalore. Following the tradition of quality treatment at affordable cost, she upholds the mantra of the hospital “ committed to care”.

Mr. Saji S. Mathew

Chief Operating Officer

Passionate about people, technology and operations, Saji is responsible for the entire gamut of Healthcare operations, Talent and IT initiatives at BMH. Saji plays a major role in determining the organisation’s operations, human resources and IT strategies and is actively involved in the day to day activities of the organisation. Saji has taken up the role of an agent of transformation to support the organisation building, optimise value across overall organisational processes and sustained business growth.No matter how busy, he ensures that he finds time to personally mentor staff and help them hone their skills.

Saji has around 25 years of consulting and management experience and has worked with leading global IT and healthcare organisations. Prior to joining Baby Memorial Hospital, Saji worked with UST Global, Monetary Authority of Singapore, Cap Gemini and Tata Consultancy Services in India, Singapore, Australia, Europe and North America.

He holds Master’s degree in Software Engineering from National University of Singapore and Digital Electronics from Cochin University of Science and Technology. He bagged the first rank in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (University of Kerala) in 1991.

Saji was awarded “Most Influential HR Leaders in India” title by World HRD Congress in 2017 for his novel initiatives and commitment towards people development. He is also recognised as one among 50 South India’s most talented HR leaders by the Asia Pacific HRD congress in Sept 2017. He lead the organisation in bagging the AHPI “Best Hospital to Work for” award in 2019 and “Kaizen Implementation” award from Quality Council of India in 2018

Prof.(Dr.) Roy. K. George

Director Academics – Nursing & Allied Medical Sciences Principal – College of Nursing

Prof.(Dr.) Roy.K.George, a senior Professor in Mental Health Nursing and a PhD holder in Behavioral Sciences has decades of experience in academic administration in colleges and universities in addition to his passion for teaching and research. He is the head of academic wing consisting of 3 academic institutions under the umbrella of Baby Memorial Hospital viz School of Nursing,

College of Nursing and College of Allied Medical Sciences. He is in charge of planning, development and administration of academic activities of different streams spreading over Diploma, Degree, Post Graduate and Ph.D programme in Nursing and Allied Health Sciences.

Maj. Beena C. A. (Retd)

Chief Nursing Officer

As Chief of the Nursing Department, Maj. Beena C. A. (Retd) is in charge of planning, development and administration of nursing services at Baby Memorial Hospital. With her vast experience in nursing, she manages the recruitment, training and retention of nurses at BMH, and coordinates with the hospital management and heads of various departments before taking the call on matters relating to nurses and customer care.

Maj. Beena came with 25 years of nursing experience in various capacities ranging from Junior Nursing Officer to Administrator in various military and corporate hospitals

Before joining BMH, Maj. Beena was the Chief Nursing officer at DM WIMS Medical College Hospital, Wayanad and Aster Super Speciality Hospital Wayanad.

She hold MSc in Nursing, MBA in Hospital Administration and is a certified faculty for Emergency Nursing Certification from Alfred Monash University, Australia and quality health care mangement from AHPI. She has been a resource person for Institutional and State level nursing conferences.

Dr. Sahasranam K. V.

Sr Consultant

Dr. K V Sahasranam, MD, who always stood bold with a stubborn approach for providing better care to the patients, plays a leading role in coordinating the entire medical staff and also effectively implementing the clinical care strategy.Based on the policy of ensuring quality service, Dr. Sahasranam, the most reputed senior consultant in Cardiology of BMH also holds the responsibility in examining the multidisciplinary clinical services provided by the hospital.

He is also entrusted with the tasks of formulating medical policies and overseeing the work of medical staff.

By inducing the perfect knowledge of medicine into the minds of students, Dr. Sahasranam also serves as the director of the BMH Academy and also ensures the quality and standards of medical education imparted by the Academy both for Medical Residents and for the nursing and para medical students.

As an academician, Dr. Sahasranam has served as professor of Cardiology in Medical College, Kozhikode for 13 years. For the past 19 years, he has been employing his expertise in medicine for making BMH as the biggest healthcare centre in Kerala. Considering the vast knowledge and experience, Dr. Sahasranam was promoted as Medical Director of BMH in 2013.

He earned his medical degree from Calicut University by bagging a first rank in MBBS examination in the year 1975. The veteran cardiologist also holds an MD degree in General Medicine and a DM degree in Cardiology.

Dr. C Ravindran

Senior Consultant & Chief of Medical Services

Dr C Ravindran, MD, DTCD, MBA (HRM) has good experience as a medical teacher and guide, after working 35 years in various medical schools. He also has worked as an administrator and manager in Govt. owned institutions. He is a reputed teacher and senior consultant in Pulmonology. He is well known to his peers, colleagues and students. With his experience in teaching and his desire to improve academics, he will be looking after the BMH academy and ensuring the quality and standards of medical education. He will be taking care of the scientific research activities of BMH. Scientific research, publications, conferences, in-hospital medical teaching, continuous medical training, and education represent essential tools in this context
Dr Ravindran is very keen in issues related to professionalism, fairness, quality of care, patient satisfaction and medical teaching. He knows that institutional healthcare quality is closely related to the administrator’s efficiency and deficiency. He is interested in ensuring supervision and improvement of the institutional healthcare system. His values are mutual respect, fairness, integrity, responsibility, mindfulness, and professionalism.
Dr Ravindran has plan for a continuous quality improvement program, which allows monitoring and evaluation of the activities of each medical unit and to help improving individual staff performance. With his knowledge in human resource management, Dr Ravindran ensures satisfactory collaboration between physicians, nurses, paramedics and other workforce in the hospital. He always believes in management by participation.

Dr. Shaji Thomas John

Chief of Clinical Support Services

Dr. Shaji was one of the first doctors who joined Baby Memorial Hospital when it was started in 1987. He was the first in Kerala to start a special clinic for children with Down syndrome amply supported by the management of the hospital. Recognizing his administrative qualities coupled with sincerity and dedication he was made the Medical Superintendent of the hospital in 1993 and later the Director of Quality Management Services in 2013.

He is a much sought after faculty for state and national conferences, especially on topics related to Adolescent Paediatrics and Trisomy 21 (Down syndrome). He is an authority on Trisomy 21 and a recognized speaker for World Down Syndrome Congresses. Dr. Shaji is well known for his advocacy for children with special needs and represents India in the APDSF (Asia Pacific Down Syndrome Federation) and is also the Chair of the Asia Pacific Down Syndrome Medical Health Wellness (APDS MHW) Research Committee.

His academic interests had taken him across the length and breadth of the country; after his MBBS from Government Medical College, Calicut he went on to take his DCH (Diploma in Child Health) from Bombay and later DTM&H (Diploma in Tropical Medicine & Hygiene) from the world renowned School of Tropical Medicine under the University of Calcutta, which is one of the oldest medical institutions in the country. Later he took his PGDAP (Post Graduate Diploma in Adolescent Paediatrics) from Thiruvananthapuram. He took his MD (Paediatrics) from Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore and was the best outgoing student of his batch. He was awarded the Fellowship of the IMA Academy of Medical Specialties and later the coveted Fellowship of the Indian Academy of Paediatrics.

Lt. Col (Retd) Sunny Thomas

Chief Administrative Officer

As General Manager (administration), Lt Col (retired) Sunny Thomas oversees the management of all hospital facilities including fire &safety, security, housekeeping, transport, estate, maintenance and biomedical engineering. He is also the Facility Safety Officer and chairs the Facility Safety Committee of the hospital. In addition to that he has the added responsibility of monitoring front office operations and customer relations at BMH.

He joined BMH in January 2010, after 23 years of Army service where he provided engineering support to equipment including medical equipment. He specialised in armaments and night vision devices and was served for several years in hostile conditions and the extreme weather at the LoC along Jammu & Kashmir and Nagaland. He also served in the elite National Security Guards (Black Cat Commandos), Defence Research & Development Organisation and the Directorate General of Quality Assurance.

This former Army man retired voluntarily from Defence Research & Development Laboratory, Hyderabad, where he was the lead Reliability Engineer in several projects.

He did his MTech in Reliability Engineering from IIT Bombay after getting his graduation degree from Punjab Engineering College in Chandigarh.

Mr. Saimon Mathews

Asst. General Manager

Mr. Simon Mathews has an immense experience in smoothly managing and carrying forward the day to day operations of BMH. He is the Assistant General Manager responsible for monitoring the strictness in the operational function of the hospital. By pioneering various strategies of management and administration for upgrading the internal quality, Simon Mathews always made sure the basic requirements are met as an executive member of Stores Purchase Committee.

His admiring service for the past 18 years has tagged him with the identity as the strongest pillar of BMH.

Mr. Simon, having a global experience of over 18 years in material management, started his journey with the BMH family in 1998. Prior to joining BMH, he also extended his service at Al‐Suwaidi Trading and Development, Al‐Khobar, a sister concern of M.S. Al‐Suwaidi Est. for Contracting, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Mr. Simon has a Master’s Degree in Hospital Administration from University of Kerala.

Mr. Vinod Kumar Ayilliath

Asst. General Manager

Vinod Kumar joined BMH in September 2014 and has transformed the pharmacy department, bringing in several novel ideas to improve the method of supply chain managementand operations.

Engaged in the pharmacy field for 25 years, Vinod knows the industry inside out and has a vast knowledge and experience in hospital pharmacy management and retail pharmacy management and has worked in several institutions in India and abroad.

Prior to BMH, Mr Vinod headed the pharmacy operation at Ministry of Health, KSA, Prescriptions 2 u LTD in Birmingham, UK and Gloabal hospital LTD, Chennai.

Vinod did his Bachelor degree in Pharmacy and holds Master degree in Business Administration.

Mr. Vijayakrishnan Pavangat

Asst. General Manager

VijayaKrishnan P, the Assistant General Manager (Engineering) of BMH, oversees thefacilities management of the hospital including projects, transport services, estate, maintenance and biomedical engineering.

In April 2004, he joined BMH after serving the Sri Sathya Sai Trust, a charitable organisation in Andhra Pradesh, for 14 years where he was engaged in the construction of the airport and runway operations and volunteered to manage the canteen that served the ashramites and visitors. He was also part of the hospital construction team and helped complete the construction of the super speciality hospital Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, following which he joined the engineering team to lead the mechanical, civil, landscaping and medical gas departments and was incharge of providing biomedical engineering support to the laboratories.

A civil engineering graduate from MIT, Manipal Institute of Technology, he also has a diploma in management.

Mr. Salil Sankar

Asst. General Manager

Salil Sankar drives the customer relations of Baby Memorial Hospital (BMH), and ensures that a healthy relationship is maintained between the hospital and its patients. A 1986 graduate from Calicut University, Salil Sankar has worked in BMH for over two-and-a-half decades. Spearheading his career with BMH in 1989 as a Front Office staff, he worked his way up the ladder through loyalty and hard work.

Over the years, Salil has worked in different positions and several departments in the hospital and is now the Assistant General Manager (Customer Relations).

Passionate about people and building relations, he is capable of handling difficult situations without losing his cool and addresses any dispute the public has with the hospital. He is the public voice of BMH and represents BMH in both civil and police matters.

Mr. Mohanan A.

Asst. General Manager

Mohanan oversees all accounting activities including finalization of accounts and liaises with Government departments on regulatory matters. He has been with BMH from the very beginning. He is hold a master degree in Commerce and a bachelor degree in law.
