Infectious Diseases

The Department of Infectious Diseases is closely associated to other primary teams on the diagnosis, testing, interpretation of microbiological data, selection of antibiotics, dosing and duration of antibiotics therapy for the patients admitted in wards and ICUs, in relation with various infections, thus optimising the outcome and reducing the cost on unnecessary antibiotics.

OPD services includes testing and treatment for HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted diseases, tuberculosis, leprosy, diabetic foot and osteomyelitis, vaccination, travel related preventive medicines, transplant related infections and post-Covid clinic.

Dr. Rakesh T Parakadavathu completed his MBBS form Calicut Medical College and MD in Internal Medicine from Govt. Medical College, Nagpur. He also holds DNB in Internal medicine. He completed his internationally recognized 3-year fellowship program in Infectious diseases from Hamad Medical Corporation, Qatar and also passed the MRCP-UK specialty certificate examination in Infectious diseases. He was former Assistant Professor in Internal Medicine as faculty in Directorate of Medical Education in Kerala government.
