How do I schedule a medical appointment with a specialist at BMH Kannur?

When making a medical appointment what information should I provide?

If you are planning to visit BMH for the first time, please provide your full name, place, contact number, and the name of the Department/Doctor you wish to get an appointment with.

If you are coming for a review, please provide the hospital UHID number mentioned in your hospital ID card/Discharge summary.

This is my first visit. Where should I approach for a new appointment/registration?

At the inquiry counter please check the availability of the doctor as a prior appointment is required for certain doctors. Or contact any Customer Care Executives available in the main lobby who will then guide you. In case of any special requirement please contact the Customer Relations Department.

I have already taken an appointment via Phone/Online, where should I report?

Please carry your hospital card provided to you during your first registration or at least your hospital number whenever you visit BMH . Please approach the inquiry counter or any Customer Care Executive who will then guide you further. If you do not remember your UHID Number, then please provide the answers to the queries asked by the front office staff who will then retrieve your Number. However,do not register again and obtain a new registration number.

Front Office staff shall then guide you further.

If I am a Foreign National is there any separate registration formality?

On arrival at the hospital please proceed to our International Desk at Counter Number 10, Block C. In case of any difficulty approach Room Number 7055 in the main lobby of Block C.

On arrival please furnish your passport & visa. In case of admission to the hospital, Form ‘C’ needs to be filled (i.e. Foreign National Arrival Reporting Form) as this is a legal requirement.

If I am a Company paid/credit patient, where should I submit my papers on my arrival?

If at the Hospital, please contact our Reimbursement Department, Room number - G141 located on the ground floor to verify whether you are eligible for cashless service along with pre-authorization or other necessary documents furnished to you by the company/insurance firm.

Where can I get documentation done for medical reimbursement?

Should I fill in separate registration forms for each department/specialist that I choose to consult?

No, you will be provided with a Hospital ID card during your first registration. The UHID number printed on this ID card will be applicable for all consultations/investigations irrespective of the doctor, at all times.

What should I do after paying the registration fees?

You shall be guided towards your doctor's OP room where you will have to await your turn to see the Doctor.

If I am admitted to the hospital can a relative stay with me in the hospital during the night?

Two bystanders are permitted to stay along with the patient during nights. More than two bystanders shall be charged rent separately.

The doctor has asked me to see a doctor in another department. How should I proceed?

Please approach the Front Office with the UHID number/OP Doctor’s Prescription/discharge summary and request them for an appointment with the referred doctor. If the doctor is available on the same day you will be requested to make the payment and arrangements will be made for cross consultation, else an appointment will be fixed at a convenient time on another day.

How can I get various investigations/diagnostics tests done?

We have excellent full-fledged laboratory and imaging services available round the clock to carry out various diagnostic tests/investigations. On reaching the hospital, approach the Front Office, and provide your UHID/prescription. The staff shall guide you to the concerned testing facility.

What are the formalities and will I get a copy of all my investigation reports?

For all tests/investigations, prior payment must be made at the front office cash counter. Once billing is complete the patient needs to go to the concerned testing facility along with the Doctor’s prescription. The concerned staff will then guide you through the process and if need be provide an appointment, if the test cannot be done on the same day. After the tests, all reports shall be handed over to you.

How can I get a medical report?

If you are an out-patient then please request your treating doctor to provide you with the required medical report. For all in-patients a discharge summary shall be provided at the time of discharge.

Will there be a requirement of providing advance at the time of admission?

An advance is usually collected at the time of the patient's admission to cover his estimated hospital expenses. The amount depends on the type of treatment/surgery and also the class of Room selected for stay. As part of the process of admission, necessary counselling shall be done where all your doubts shall be settled.

Also the duration and approximate cost of treatment shall be provided.

How can my relative/family reach me over phone if I am admitted in the hospital?

Please call 0497 2825 555 and provide the patient details, our telephone operators will then connect your call to the required room. If you know Room No., use our Direct Dialling facility.

However, phone calls shall not be transferred if the patient is admitted to the ICU. Considering the patient comfort.

I am visiting a friend, but I do not know which ward he is admitted to. What do I do?

You can get the details of your patient from the front office or 'May I Help You' desk. You may also feel free to contact any Customer Care executive who will then guide you.

I am driving to the hospital. Does the hospital provide parking facilities?

We have a wide range of parking facilities inside our hospital premises.

How can I follow up with my doctor once I go home?

For all in-patients, discharge summary will be provided at the time of the discharge. The number for contacting the concerned doctor is provided in the summary. Moreover our customer care executives shall also call you for feedback and follow-up.

In case of out-patients the medical prescription provided by the concerned doctor contains the doctor's/hospital telephone number for further follow up.

Are visitors permitted?

For patient safety and comfort we permit visitors only between 4 pm and 7 pm on all days.

The doctor has asked me to visit him again. What should I do next?

If you are present in the hospital, please make a review appointment at the front office counter for the date the doctor has requested otherwise you may call 0497 2825 555 for a booking.
